Frank Mruk
Frank Mruk is an architect and technology strategist. He is a founder and executive director of the NY Center for Strategic Innovation, the Boston Center for Smart Building Technology and is a Senior Director of Building Innovations at NRMCA. He was educated at Pratt Institute, Pace University and at the University of Oxford. He has taught Architecture at the School of Visual Arts, the Rhode Island School of Design, Roger Williams University, the Parsons School of Design, New York University, and at the New York Institute of Technology where he served as associate dean for the School of Architecture and Design and has been a visiting critic at the United Nations, Oxford Brooks University, the University of Chile, the Fashion Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Yale University and at MIT. He also taught at RISD, NYU, Parsons, SVA, and RWU.
Early on in his career, Frank worked for Cuban cinematographer Nestor Almendros during the filming of Heartburn with Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. Afterwards, he spent 10 years working on Wall Street for American International Group and Morgan Stanley, and in professional practice for the Aga Kahn AKAA winning Architect Emre Arolat. He has consulted for the Army Corps of Engineers, the Rhode Island Office of Innovation with Apple Computer and with the Rhode Island School of Design and Goldman Sachs. He has served as president of the American Institute of Architects [RI], the Construction Specifications Institute [NY], the Association for Strategic Planning [NY], and on the board of the Royal Institute of British Architects USA, and Habitats for Music USA. Frank was elevated to Fellowship in both the Strategic Planning Society and the American Institute of Architects and lives in Tiverton, RI with his wife Diana.
